At the Long Lake Conservation Center (LLCC), Aitkin County Land Department and LLCC staff have set up a demonstration forest management project scattered throughout the 760 acre property. Future plans are to have self guided tours with information available on-line.
The public is welcome to walk thought the land and learn about the forest. However, you should check in at the center first as we do have children on campus. We hope you'll learn how forest management can be used to create different conditions similar to those in which our native trees and plants evolved. We will have plant identification to educate people on forest plants and show different ways we read the land and listen to what it tells us.
At this point, we have some of the demonstration forest completed. Below is some of the information that we have gathered.
